Can't wait!

Postby kwf » Tue Jul 22, 2008 6:55 am

Hello all.
I am anxiously waiting untill this weekend when I pick up my first cub from fellow member Dave Hull. It is a 61 with fast hitch, plow, disc and cultivators. I hope to use it next spring to make a garden. I have decided with all the scares of buying and consuming vegetables from foreign countries, it is time to take matters into my own hands.
I grew up on a farm and was active in the FFA, where we had to have a home project. My project was raising sweet corn and mowing lawns. I of course had a 127 cub cadet to do my lawn business. We had larger tractors on the farm for haying and other chores, but an elderly man down the road had a cub and he would let me borrow it to cultivate my corn. This was too exciting, to be on an antique tractor and it be so fun and do such a great job. I knew I had to have one some day. I went to college and became an Agriculture teacher and FFA sponsor and my passion has been restoring tractors for myself and other people and tractor pulling. This has been a family experience and been lots of fun. I collected Oliver tractors but have sold all but one to pursue other interests. The family atmosphere of this board is what drew it to me probably a year ago. I have been an active reader, but did not want to interfere untill I got my own little jewell. The day is drawing near to get my cub and hopefully to interact with you nice folks online and at the shows. Maybe I can attend my first Cubarama and the Cub tug looked like so much fun. Maybe I can bring my pulling experiences next year and bring the trophy back south
Look forward to interacting with you and thanks for having me.

Welcome KWF. You are welcome to participate in our activities whether you own a cub or not. We would be pleased to welcome you to the Cub Tug with your new acquisition! But don't be too sure about dragging that trophy back south. These northern boys are quite possessive and will defend it with a vengeance! :D :D :D

That could make all the difference in the world, and besides rookies never win do they? You know I have won hundreds of trophys and point championships, but he one thing I forgot to do is have fun. This is my objective with this new endeavor. :)

Welcome to the best forum on the whole WWW, KWF! That is a beautiful tractor you got there! Looks just like the tractor that I grew up on... Betsey... my cousin still owns her in Pittsburgh. Great little tractors! That seat does not look too comfortable to sit on, though... :bellylaugh:

Nice purchase!!!!

Nice lookin' Cub. Welcome to the forum. You can find everything you need to know about a Cub here.

It looks like you are just under three hours from Gillsville Georgia. You should drive down for Stonethrow and meet a bunch of us in October. You'll want to come back for more.

As for the Cub Tug, I reckon a rookie that knows what he's doing could win it easily. :D

kwf,
Welcome :!: As Barnyard said please come on down to The Stonethrow Cubfest the first weekend of October (3rd & 4th) we probably can find a cub for you to borrow to drive in the parade we participate in on Saturday. As far as Cub Tug's you would have the chance to talk to this years winner (Barnyard) and last years winner (me,Kodiak) all in one sitting :!: Why we might even give out some autographs! (I haven't given out any yet :( )

I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

If I rent an armored car I can bring the trophy. I could probably cover my gas expense by charging a modest fee to touch it
