Tire prices

Postby Festus » Mon Sep 08, 2008 2:47 pm

I started pulling together prices in preparation to redo my Super A this winter. 11.2-24 tires cost $250 each - if the dealer can get them? I know a lot of tires are going overseas and also are affected by crude oil prices, but $500 for a set of rears for a small tractor? Mama ain't gonna like this!

M E Miller tire is 240.00 each for Goodyears. You might try Tucker Tire in Tenn. They sell a lot of tires for Cubs on Ebay & prolly have them also, but don't know a price. Mama prolly ain't gonna be happy anyhow!

$240- a rear tractor is in the ballpark. Just paid $250- each for two 13.6 x 28.

You might want to wait a bit before purchasing. Oil prices have dropped which should eventually effect tire prices - after dealers sell their current inventories.
I have an excuse. CRS.

The oil prices went up and anything that uses petroleum will go up too. I just purchased 26"-1200-12 turf tires for my cub cadet and paid $152 with shipping for both. I just went to get two more and there over $100 each now. Luckily I found the same size tires on ebay from tucker for $130 delivered. I got two sets, and one set is an extra set. The tire prices have gone up drastically on the larger AG tires too. Even my 14.9x24 AG tires went up $100 already. I didn't mount them yet and I may sell them on ebay soon if the prices go higher.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Yes, tires have gone up quite a bit... right after petroleum went up.

If you farm, see if your state has a farmer co-op program; I know that Virginia does. I had a friend/farmer buy my tires through his co-op and it saved me almost 50%. A set of 8.3-24" Chinese/India made AG tread tires are running about $120-140 each plus delivery. Even when you go to Tuckertire on ebay, they are going to charge you for $125 or more for shipping. I was able to get a pair of BF Goodrichs knockoffs (BFKs) for a $100 each, delivered to my local dealer for pickup. New inner tubes were around $20 each.

I know North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance members can get battery and tire discounts, it may be the same in other states. I believe the BFK brand mentioned is the Farm Bureau tire. It used to be Safemark, but I haven't seen any new Safemark tires in several years. We put a set of BFK's on a 100 a few years ago and they were cheaper than the Firestone, and 8 ply instead of 4.

I've delt in tires for 28 years now and like everything else I don't see them coming back down on prices. We're getting 10% increases from our dealers about every 2 weeks plus we're paying extra for their fuel on top of that.
For a example front cub tires have doubled in prices since May along with many other sizes....
I just don't get it, they raise gas a dollar then drop it back 25 cents and everyones thrilled.

I just had new firestone 16.9-30's mounted today for my W-6. They were $414 each plus $100 for tubes. I was also told on Wednesday that the price was going up another 6 percent. I didn't give much more than what the tires/tubes/mounting cost than what i paid for the entire tractor.
