Cub Year and Modle
Just bought my first cub,am trying to pin down year and modle ect.The numbers I can read on the plate behind steering box are 98688 and below is 1800 on right side of engine 35 168 r1 below is 2, on left is 251341rzl and above is 12 15 b, can any one give me an idea?

The 12 15 b is a casting date code....December 15, 1956 but that does not match up with your serial number, also a casting code would have a
capital B not a lower case b. Most Cubs also have a L in the casting which stands for Louisville. What is nice about IH tractors is most have casting code dates that will be within 6 months of the manufacture date of the complete tractor. I always remember the cating letter code corresponding date by the sought after Z cast parts for the 1954 Super Hs and Super Ms.

This is a good way to check if a tractor has had a lot of parts changed from original.

30 + tractors including 2 French Super Cubs, French Cubs, 1963 Industrial Cub, 1955 Cub Highcrop etc...German and French built IH tractors and some bigger IH tractors. Of course I have about 20 IH trucks and an IH refridge in the Shop.
