When I left off last time, I had the sleeves out, but the pistons were stuck in them and the shop press didn't work any magic. I took the angle grinder as someone suggested, put a seam down the side of the sleeve, and where the piston wasn't, cut all the way through. Then I took a chisel to the seam and she split open. Just enough to where the pistons tapped out easily.

I believe these pistons are the "fire-crater" brand from I/H. There are part numbers on the top, but I can't find the size. Does it mean "standard" when there is no size???

I decided to power wash the front wheel pedestal. Under all the dirt was a lot of original red paint. I was suprised to see how much dirt and gunk was held in the bolster area though. On a good note, the steering seemed not to have much slack and the front wheel bearings were tight and made no noise at all. I'm hoping those little u-joint connecters are still available.....those were shot!

I'm pretty sure that the part number will tell you the size--each size had a different numbe.

typically, no numbers like 20, .30, etc indicates a std piston on a bore in block engine, like the cub. sometimes, if a piston was not marked, old time mechanics would prick punch dots, each dot representing .010 oversize.
because you have a sleeved engine, when the sleeves are worn you would replace them along with rings and generally pistons, and therefor the engine would still have std pistons regardless of the number of times it was rebuilt.
H's, however, all get over size super H sleeve kits 1/16" larger diameter, if i remember right.

Same way here. Super A's usually got "Super C" kits. I think you could go all the way to a 3 1/4?? piston with no block mod's. The thickness of the sleeve varied. You could go even bigger but then you had to bore the block to accept a bigger sleeve.
