Thanks for careing

Postby Former Member » Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:45 pm

I just wanted to thank all of those who have cared so much about my health lately. I so appreciate the well wishes and advice. Now all the tests are done , so I thought I would give ya all a rundown on what we found.

It started a month or so ago, I started having chest pain, radiating down my left arm. nope not a heart attack. :D
1) The Dr.'s decided I needed a stress test. It showed I had an area of my heart that was not getting enough blood flow.

2) They decided to do a heart catherization to check for any blockage. They checked my cholesterol-140-total :D They did the Cath. and found I had NO plaque-(Dr. commented he had never seen such a clear heart.) It did show that the heart is enlarged, twice the size of normal, and very weak.

3) They also found I have severe sleep apnea-I kept falling asleep during the Cath and would stop breathing.(sleep study is scheduled)

4) they decided to do another Eccocardiogram to check my valves. This showed my heart works at about 45-55% of what it should ( this has been true for quite a while)

5) my visit today was for pain in my left shoulder and elbow. I have severe tendinitis in both, probably radiating into my chest- thus explaining the chest pain-in conjunction with the enlarged heart.

So it appears I am not in much worse shape than I have been for a few years. The pain from tendonitis, tired because of sleep apnea. Just a good reminder i can't take my health for granted.

Thanks to all of you again for careing. :D

Dale,
Thanks for the update. Good to hear the good news. You'll have to give us all a lesson on keeping a clean heart. :)

So "that's the way Dale does it."
Seems a fitting view from what you said at Stonethrow.
Now you just got to get that truck a heart job.

That is great results. If my total cholesterol ever fell to 140 it would be my doctor who would have the heart attack!!!!

Dale,

I had a sleep study about a year ago and it really helped me. They discovered that I had sleep apnea, plus acid reflux and restless leg syndrome. Now all of these are under control and I'm feeling MUCH better. You'll be amazed at how much better you feel after the sleep study and getting the things they discover under control.

Dale,

Thanks for the update. Sounds like your doctors are on top of the situation, and I'm glad for that. Pay attention to what they tell you to do, (and not to do!), and take it easy bud!

All good prayers and best wishes from Jawja!

Dale:

Glad to hear that there are no blockages etc., and that your cholesterol is reasonable. The Sleep Apena can be a pita for sure, and many who have heart conditions also suffer from that. It will probably take some getting used to.. gotta pace yourself and not try to do what you did 25 years ago. I keep telling myself that, but it is still a hard sell :big shy:... However, as we age, we need to take good care of our parts... not like we can get replacements at the Parts Counter at our local dealer now can we :big give up: So it is a life changing scenario I guess... but.. with faith, listening to your Doctors and taking care of yourself.. prognosis is probably 100% :D

We wish you good health, Peace (+) and continued prayers.
