I am in the process of rebuilding my transmission and PTO. I got the gasket kits from TM to use when I reassemble. They have all but one part, the PTO lever and shaft seal (TM Notes: pto lever and shaft seal, Case IH part# 351291R1, has been discontinued by Case IH, You might want to check with your local Case IH dealer and see if there is one still on the shelf.)
I will give my "local" (over an hour away) Case IH dealer a call tomorrow, but not optimistic on the outcome. Has anyone found another source or acceptable alternative for this seal? I was told it was a felt one, so if push comes to shove, I guess one can be cut out. Thanks for any thoughts, David

Re: PTO shaft lever seal?
David,
I used two cork/rubber sealing washers from McMaster-Carr. Part number 98884A464. You'll have to trim a little off the outer diameter of each, but they'll work just fine. You may be able to find them locally if you have a really good hardware store.
P.S. 351291R1 shows up as a good part number on Messick's web site. They list a price of $2.16, but none in stock right now.

Re: PTO shaft lever seal?
A O ring of the proper size makes a good gasket. The originals were a felt washer. with a O ring you might have to press things together a little.

Re: PTO shaft lever seal?
I got lucky about a year ago and got one from the Case dealer in Nashville, TN. The seal is basically a felt washer about 1/4" to 5/16" thick. I checked other dealers when I see one and have not found another one yet. It is a discontinued item, but just maybe I will get lucky and run across another one.

Re: PTO shaft lever seal?
FYI... I called the Case IH dealer and they located two at Erb & Henry Equipment in Boyertown, PA.. and they still had them so I took them both and they are mailing to me, on to bigger and better problems now! Thanks for the help! David
