Cub Trailer

Postby S.H.A.F.T. » Sun Oct 17, 2004 8:49 pm

Helped a guy here in my town to get his Cub sold. It's his Grandfathers tractor and it has a bunch of equipment with it. He wanted to sell it too cheaply and I tried to tell him what I thought would be fair. I also tried to get him to keep it, but he has no use for it. Sad. Anyway, the reason for my post is that he may also have a Cub trailer. He described it to me and it sure sounds like one. I have not seen it since it is in the neighbors barn, and I did not ask to see it since it was Sunday (Yes, it still matters where I live). I have only seen one Cub trailer in my life and it was shot. What would be a fair price to offer this guy if he wants to sell? I do not even know where to start.

Thanks in advance.

Shaft:

Not too sure on what it would be worth stateside. Here, if it is in good shape probably $350.00-$500.00 should be fair. If it is in excellent shape - next to no rust, decals and all still there could be worth as much as $750.00.

At current exchange rates, subtract 20% if you like, but I have found prices here reflect prices there.

I know that I would pay $350.00 minimum or more to get me a Cub Trailer. That would be a real nice addition to the fleet!

SHAFT: Is it a left handed uphill backing model or a right handed uphill backing model. I know you can handle it either way.

Cub Trailer

Postby S.H.A.F.T. » Mon Oct 18, 2004 4:44 pm

YD, it's been a while. From the way he described the tire tread design, I would say it's a left handed backer (That's how they say it here). If it is a left handed backer, do you think I could fab a right handed hitch? I don't have a welder, but I do have several rolls of good stout tape.

Thanks,

S.H.A.F.T. - If you want to convert it to a right-hand backer you'll have to turn the axle around. Unless of course, you have an omni-directional hitch pin.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Cub trailer

Thanks BD. I do not own a omni-directional hitch pin, so it looks like I will have to swap the axle if I end up getting it. I have no idea why I didn't think of that.

Thanks for the advice, you guys are the best.

Hey S.H.A.F.T.,

I'm here in Lancaster and would LOVE to have that trailer for my '49 Cub. The Cub looks great and runs great now (new rings and valves beginning of summer. It's down at our Camp in the Blue Ridge and I sure could use that trailer. I have a 250 gallon water tank to haul water to the cistern on and need a trailer that can handle the weight. Didn't know a Cub trailer existed sure would like to have it.

I'd be happy to pay the guy a reasonable price and would take it tomorrow if it's in serviceable shape!

Let me know, ok? Thanks. Fred

..and oh by the way, you guys are all nuts... no wonder I like it here... :)
