Our whitetail deer weigh more than 45 lbs.
Well check this out Mike. This deer was taken next door by some lucky hunter:

Nice buck.
I know no one will believe this with sataten Island being part of NYC but some one ran into a deer yesterday. It doesn't happen often but it does. Car demolished every one ok. Bill Bill

Hey Beacon,
On the southwest side of Staten Island, there's several burned out or rotted out ship hulls. Was that the site of an old pier? Wonder if those were old sailing vessels? HR
Donny, if they get to be a problem around your place, I'd be glad to come over and assist with the harvest.
That is a grave yard. During world war I there were many wooden barges made that were towed coastwise and overseas by ships. They had a stem and stern just like a ship but no engines. After the war they were anchored there and eventually abandoned. You can only abandon a wooden hull so long and it sinks. From some of the stories I have heard from old timers they were taken to ship yards, completely refurbished and stored for future use the same as the Liberty ships were after WWII. I knew an old polish guy that rescued a lathe and all its jaws and gauges and tools before one of them went under. His CB handle was Swamp Fox. He is long gone now. But the stuff he made was a wonder. He kept the Travis Volunter Fire trucks workilg.
By the way we still have 2 volunteer companies on SI. The paid NYFD don't like them too much and are embarased how often the vols are first arrival. Swamp fox built a brush truck from a WWII 4wd dodge army truck for the Vols. He put oversize flotation tires on, that way it could get out into the fields and swamps that NYFD could not because all theirs was 2 WD at the time. Your question brought some fond memories to mind. Bill Murowski was 1 year older than I am now when I first met him in 1968. Two of us went to help a fellow CB buddy work on his antenna. 73 year old bill was up on his roof and had completed what ever he was doing before we got there. Bill Bill

We had a midgets track when I was a kid. Around 1950,51 the city condemed it for projects. We also had a stock track for 25 years or so. The city condemed it for a sewer treatment plant. I used to go. I would go to NASCAR. What in a hot climate will the city do to screw that up ?????????????
People people like it. The hoy poloy and politicans say it is bad. Dumb illigitimates. It will be built on the foot print of an old Gulf oil tank farm. Taxes caused that to close. What else aree you going to do with that land with out spending a fortune or two cleaning it up? Yes I like the idea. Bill Bill

Donny, I was just curious about that sign in your picture. Is that one of those places where they pen the deer up so the city folk can feel like hunters?

Bet they fence them to keep the out of state poachers out.
