130 Transmission Rebuild

Postby EZ » Thu Feb 12, 2009 11:30 pm

Well,
I've got the tranny on the bench now. Following the service manual from Binder, it says to "remove the snap-ring from reverse gear, and slide shaft out rear of trans".
There is no snap ring that I can see on the gear, but there is a pin through it holding it to the shaft. I'm thinking this is a typo and that pin sure looks like it has to come out for the shaft to move.

I have the drive shaft flange and key removed.

If I can only figure out how to resize pictures I could post some of my progress.

Ed I haven't had a 130 trans apart but I would say you are right. I can't wait until you have her up and running. Its no fun having a 130 down :!: If you want you can send the pictures to me and I will resize them for you.

Billy,
I got it all apart this afternoon.
Now time to start ordering the parts.
It's amazing what you can accomplish once the wrenches start turning.

Lets see....still have to do both final drives, rebuild the Touch Control, fix that sloppy steering box.......good thing the engine is already rebuilt! (by P.O.)

Spring is just around the corner. :D

Cool Ed

Check out the water pump while you have it apart. I have to do the touch control, brakes, water pump. And pull the steering gear box apart. There is a clip on top of the top bearing on the gear sector shaft. Which I think is missing on the new 130. The steering is tight but if the wheels are hard to turn then I have some drift it the steering.
