Cork Gaskets-Small round

Postby rleggitt » Mon Nov 08, 2004 9:40 pm

Hi All,

Just wanted to pass this along. I found myself in need of the cork gasket
to fit in the sediment bowl on two of the CUBs this past summer. Could not
find any anywhere. So I got to thinking that I had a roll of fine cork that
I got at the hobby store to make roads/parking lots for the HO train layout. I took some and my ole [1963] compas with trammel points
[sharpe needle like points] and slowly began to turn the circles out and
they cut right through the 1/8" cork. I then cut the centers out the same
way.

A poor man can make do, if you know what I mean.

Russ. Another tip on cutting gaskets when they have a tendency to move is: Apply a piece or more (depending on gasket size) of double sided tape (easy peeling stuff so gasket doesn't get ruined taking off) on a board when cutting. I have also cut rubber gaskets on a machine with fly cutter and the tape holds well.........
