140 problems

Postby TaylorLambert » Sat Feb 21, 2009 8:57 pm

My brother and I recently restored a beat up 140 for my dad. we fixed the sheetmetal and a friend that s a great mechanic rebuilt the trans mission. It ran great before wer restored it but now after we had the carb rebuilt it will run a second on ether eventually pick up gas and run for a second and cut off. Dad had the carb redone as the breather hose was off when painted and it got a shot of paint by accident. Mr. Olen put in a complete IH sold kit into it. We ran it for 2 days around the yard and it sat a few days i nthe carport and does its little trick. Its got a new gasket to. It acts like its just not getting enough gas. The sediment bowl is clean and the clear inline filters is clear to. Any suggestions.

Check for fuel flow to and through the carb. If ok then remove, disassemble and dip the carb in carb cleaner. My guess is the carb is plugged up from the paint or a bit of debris.
I have an excuse. CRS.

In-Line Filter!!!! Yikes!

Lose the inline filter. Sounds like the engine needs gas.
