English peas planted

Postby Boss Hog » Thu Feb 26, 2009 7:12 pm

I planted 4 rows of English peas and laid off rows for beets, onions and Irish potatoes today. Land was in real good shape and the moon was right. May be a bit early but I think it will be fine.

The ground is still frozen hard as a rock up here. :(

There is snow on the ground. The ground is frozen and the rocks in the ground are frozen. But I enjoy hearing about waking gardens in warmer areas. Good job!!!

I planted a row of english peas and one row of potatoes this past weekend. The peas were 'sweet snaps'. Down here, the old timers always plant potatoes and english peas on 14-15 Feb, then the corn and other peas and beans a month later. I planted a bit late, but will plant the silver king corn, fordhooks beans and blackeyed peas mid Mar. on 'time'.

MMMM, I can already taste them!!

I got spectacular grown from Maine Roof Icicles, one over ten foot before it broke under its weight, I should have staked it. It takes a lot of roof seed to get champion sizes like that. You guys talking about planting are killing me in Midcoast Maine. We have so much snow that if it weren't for fence posts I wouldn't know where to find my gardens. Keep up the reports from the south!
bust it? you bet I can!
