Found an old picture

Postby Rick Prentice » Sat Apr 11, 2009 8:23 am

My mom handed me this old picture of me when I was 3 years old. Boy, I sure wish I had that setup now. Does anyone recognise what model it is? I remember it being red. Thanks in advance for the replies,
Rick

sure would be nice to have that setup in your collection today! but i suspect my story is the same as yours, the Farmall M or 400 pedal tractor that i had and rode hard as a kid was left home with the other toys - and long since gone :( :( but i didnt have the cool trailer 8)

i'm still looking for it - my Dad had installed a bracket on the side with 4 used spark plugs i could change when it wasn't running good, i guess - so i'll know when i find it!

With the white side panels it should be either a 350 or 450.

Wow Rick, that brings back great memories. Mom had a picture of me on mine as I tried to run over our Rat Terrier. After she died I looked for that picture as well as all the ones of dad with his equipment out in the fields. It seems they all disappeared and no one knew what happened to them. Well three of us kids have a pretty good idea what happened. I actually liked the Rat Terrier (better than my big sister), he always chased my uncle whenever he would torment me. He probably bit my sister for the fun of it too. :)

Well here is a pleasant surprise to me. I was talking about this at breakfast this morning and my gun-totin daughter said she remembers seeing that picture here. She spent about twenty minutes going through old albums and came up with this.

Image

This is me in September 1954 about two months before my 3rd birthday. It seems mom had made a copy and gave it to Rosanne many years ago and mom kept the original (which no one can find).

It's not the same as Rick's and I don't have one of those nifty sailor hats, but I have plenty of memories about the dog and riding in Dads 51? Buick.

Rick I think that it is a 450 as I could not find any information that they ever make a 350 . Acording to book it was made by ESKA in 1956.

Rick

After all these years and you are still "Playing with Tractors"

Glad to see that you remained true to your Red Roots, However, I am glad that you updated the hat over the years :D

My folks had a 1956 Mercury Montclair (white over Black) when I was a kid, I would LOVE to have that car today.

Thanks for the Pix

Bill, I had a tractor like the one you posted the picture of only mine was yellow, black seat and steering wheel. Guess I'll have to see if I can find any pictures of it when I'm at my Mom and Dads again.

Ron
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.
