Rebuilding my 3260 mower deck

Postby BigBill » Sun Jun 07, 2009 10:44 am

I figure since my 154 is down for a while i might as well rebuild my growling 3260 mower deck too. I ordered a new center pulley #cub-IH-543120-R1 from Stens for $91.80 with the spacers and new seals. I found another site who has the bearing races for $1.50 and the roller bearing for $2.95 and i'll post when i receive them when i know there the correct parts. This is a major break thru for bearing prices i'm sure. The cheapest i seen these were $3.32 race and $10.99 for the roller and thats not a list price. I'm kind of tired going thru the ringer on the prices of the parts to repair these.

With 6 new bearings, 6 new seals / spacers and a new center drive pulley and some moly paste and moly grease it should out last my lifetime.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

I found the spindle deck bearings at http://www.gokartgalazy.com and they seem to interchange with the orginal bearings.

The roller is # 8256 and measures .750" ID. ( 3/4" ID )

The cup is #8257 and its 1.7815" thats ( 1 3/4"+ )

I haven't installed them yet but they appear to replace the timken bearings. All the measurements are the same. If you search the web for the 8256 & the 8257 bearings its used alot in other mowers and even in aircraft too.

As far as a difference in cost;

8256--gokartgalaxy $ 2.95 Timken 11949/ cub cadet #941-3028 $21.53
8257--gokartgalaxy $ 1.50 Timken 11910/ cub cadet #741-3029 $14.95
Each spindle costs $ 4.45 ----------------------------------------------- $36.48
X 3 spindles---------- $13.35-----------------------------------------------$109.44

Thats $13.35 vs $109.44 for the same size bearings. Thats a big difference in savings to rebuild all 3 mower spindles. This figure is for the bearings only. I had to order the spacers and the seals from cub cadet.

Thanks for the reply Bill. Do you have a part or catalog # from your supplier for those seals?
