close call

We were returning to the parking area after the parade and show yesterday, and as usual while going through intersections we had gotten spread out a little with cars in between. It is a left turn into the parking area, and the lead driver gave a hand signal for a left turn, then pulled his hand back to have both hands on the wheel of the old Allis and began his turn when the 2nd car behind him decided to pass the first car and the Allis. Rather than stopping when he saw what was happening, the passing driver was in such a hurry that he drove into the parking lot across the road (where we were heading), and back out onto the street ahead of everyone. Thank goodness no one was hurt, but it was close.

My mother always told me horses had two ends. My grandpa said his daughter is right but that we have more of one end than the other. He further said not to ruin her day by telling her so.

One of the guys working for a friend o mine was hit by a teenage driver while making a left turn. The kid said he didn't know what the guy sticking out his left hand meant. he said the patorlman said that the signal combined with the SMV sign cleared the tractor driver of any wrong doing. Patrolman said he woudl have gotten a ticket for contributing to the accident but for the SMV emblem.
