Wow I haven't had any good silver queen since my daddy died. That was the only corn he would plant. Mmmuummm I can taste it now. Good thing for you I don't live closer I might sneak over to your patch and help myself..

looks great. What model is your Cole planter, and does it plant other things like sunflowers? How about side dress fertilizer at the same time.

Thanks.

Todd, It's a Cole duplex planter and yeah you can plant sunflowers with the right seed plate and no you can't side dress fertilizer while you plant some people like to fertilize when they plant I prefer to fertilize after the crop has come up

I'd like to see some more pictures of the planter also. The ones i've seen only hook up with a 3-point hitch.

Nice corn. I'd like to know more about the process after planting. How do you control weeds and when/how do you fertilize?

Great ... now I'm hungry! :D

As far as weed control I did not use any chemicals for weeds this year some people will spray with Bicep right after they plant it does a good job at keeping your field grass and weed free ever since we quit farming I don't deal with many chemicals any more I just plow alot and use a good old garden hoe as far as fertilizing goes when I first broke the land up and got it in shape to plant I just broadcast some 10-10-10 and in the second picture in this post I had just plowed it for the last time and I used my sidedreser to do the final fertilizing witch was 10-10-10 + some soda I mix it half and half to make what some people call side dressing I enjoy planting corn more than anything else in the garden some key things to a good corn crop are when you plant it plant it thick and when it comes up thin it out and then the next step is when it gets some size to it you need to sucker it make sure it gets water when it needs it and soda is a key factor also and most of the time all this equals a good crop :D
