Sliding In A Winter Wonderland!!!

Postby Cub-Bud » Thu Dec 23, 2004 9:41 am

Here are a couple of pics of what N. Mississippi woke up to this morning. Conditions only worsen Northward. Ice on roadways may seem trivial to some, but have proven dangerous and even fatal for residents and travellers in the area. There were several accidents on I-55 last night, resulting in its closing.

You call that ice? you must live a sheltered life. Reminds me of a news clip I saw everal years ago after a snow hit Little Rock, Ar. (near where my wife lived). The were showing pictures of the Little Rock street crews. Their snow equipment consisted of two guys in the back of a dump truck shoveling gravel on the overpasses. Didn't even get cloudy here, but temp is 8 with windchill of -6.

Yeah, 60 today but it was 3 on Monday morning with 40 mph wind. It looked like Christmas then!

The problem with the weather - just wait a few minutes and it'll get worse.

I'll vote with Cub Bud! We had snow, sleet and freezing rain last night. Lost our electric power about 2 a.m. Didn't come back on till noon today. There were tree branches (and trees) breaking down from the weight of the ice. Now it's getting colder and the winds are picking up. Fun Fun! :P :P :P :P :P :P

Yesterday morning here it started at 41 degrees and a little rainy. As the day went, it got colder and changed to sleet then snow. Took a fair amount of effort to sweep and scrape the car before leaving work. Late rush hour started getting icy in a few places. By this morning it was 17. It has now started to warm up some. It was already partly melted by the time we took this picture. Note that it got cold enough for me to break out my cheezehead approved long sleeve t-shirt.

Long sleeved t-shirt? That's under wear right now in Mo. Thought you retired, what's this going to work bit?

Know about it? Heck, he hand delivered it. Perhaps you need a closeup view of the shirt:

I am retired. I have been working part time temporary, mostly for entertainment value. It could run out any time too.
