PhotoHost problems

Postby Trent M » Mon Jul 27, 2009 8:51 pm

I'm having a problem logging on to the PhotoHost. When I click "login" I get this message "Warning your browser does not accept script's cookies." I type my username and password and it wecomes me, as if I'm logged in. But back at the home page, I get the login selection at top, instead of the other options, to upload, etc. Any ideas?

Trent:

What browser are you using? IE, FireFox, Safari etc...?

Have you cleared your history and your cookies? I see it often on :eBay: even though there has been no change. I just go to the root page of :eBay: and it gets me to my homepage and then all works... could be something really simple that will clear up on it's own.

Oh, I just logged in to the host and all seems to be working properly.

I'm using IE7. Also, now the forum will not "log me in automatically each time I visit," but that's a minor inconvenience.

If you have recently adjusted the security level of your browser upwards you may have inadvertantly dis-allowed the storage of cookies. Cookies are normally used to keep track of users and to track their security levels and progress through website pages.

I have not changed security settings and don't know how. Can someone tell me where I can go to enable cookies? I'm sure I've seen it before, but don't remember where.

Trent:

IN IE6 so I assume IE7 would be similar.. Tools then Internet Options then Security. You should be able to reset to medium there or whatever level you prefer. You can also change the settings for your cookies under the privacy tab.. but you will have to read up on how to do that. Cookies are normally an automatic function, but you can dictate how cookies are stored on a site to site basis if you choose. Try that and once it works then go back to auto mode.

Let us know ifn all this stuff helps.

Trent,

I would advise you to try another browser, just to rule that out. Google Chrome is an easy and small download and install. Try that and we'll know whether it's IE or not.

If it isn't the browser itself, the most likely culprit is antivirus or firewall. Has your antivirus software or Windows updated recently?

I downloaded and tried Chrome and it did the same thing. I don't think there have been any changes. I'll look into it further and report back. I have found the security settings.

If Chrome gives you the same problem, then the issue isn't in your browser. It's most likely your antivirus or firewall (Norton, McAfee, Trend, etc.) Check your privacy settings.
