Lo-Boy 154 Hydraulic System

Postby farmered » Fri Aug 07, 2009 6:53 am

I have a late model 1973 Lo-Boy 154 and I am curious as to how do you top off or check fluid lever for the hydraulic system? I am getting noise from the pump location at the motor that seems to be from low fluid. does this feed off the rear end oil and what type of fluid is used? You can email me at dlange59@gmail.com directly.

Yes, it uses the trans./rearend as it's supply. It uses Hy Tran, or an equiv. hydraulic fluid.

Mr Dodson,

Thanks for the info however I am still needing to know where to fill this unit up at or at least check the level of the hydraulic system.

Thanks

Look at the rear of the tractor. On the transmission there is a pipe plug for filling the transmission. The fluid should come to the bottom of this pipe plug while the tractor is sitting flat. (Fill trans with Hytran until it flows out of this plug)

The pipe plug is on the rear tranny veritcal cover in the center of the rear of the tractor. Each right and left final drives have pipe plugs on them too at the rear of the tractor too.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
