Field Report..... Fast Hitch Mott Flail Mower

Postby Buzzard Wing » Mon Aug 10, 2009 7:59 am

All along I knew EJP was right about a flail mower, but I finally have given mine a good run and declare it GREAT. The 'float' on a fast hitch really helps, you don't need to keep your hand on the TC lever like you almost always have to with a rotary mower on rough terrain (it is a 'rock farm' after all).

I took the diagonal link out (per the instructions) but since I didn't have the rigging for the chains there was too much swing side to side, so I put it back in. It does a nice job of cutting too.

Since it was originally yeller and I had a can of federal yellow kicking around I painted it with a brush, came out way nicer than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to use the CaseIH paint with a brush again.

Looks good Mr. Davis! I've been driving around with that blue rear lift bar in my truck for quite a while. One of these days I'll drop it off when I'm in Newport. Thanks for selling yours as part of the cultivator set you brought to Maine for me. Chris
