PTO right angle pulley bearing

Postby Buzzard Wing » Fri Aug 28, 2009 8:13 am

I was thinking of dragging a PTO pulley up to Rudi's Cubfest for a 'rebuild'. But there is one bearing that could be difficult to find.

Does anyone know a cross or a source of part # 351274R91 Messicks shows it to be $26 but not in stock.... as usual I am behind schedule.

I have 2 6205's (with shields, but I have em, so I am going to use them). And can probably get the seals from NAPA, Their web site used to give cross references to OEM parts but not anymore (that I can find) and my NAPA is really expensive.

Guess I should have bought the nice one for $50 at the flea market in CT???

Larry:

If someone has a cross reference I can check with Fundy Bearing.. they can get some pretty obscure bearings and are not all that pricey either. Pretty fair overall. I got 4 pulleys and I know 3 need rebuilding at least, so I am going to need them bearings eventually as well.

I have found that at Messicks, not in stock does not necessarily mean not available. "Not in stock" may mean that it is not on their shelf at the time of the inquiry, but they can get it from their supplier.

Yes, Bus Driver... they are a short distance away from the CaseIH warehouse, so stuff comes in quickly. I found when talking to Bermuda Ken they get their deliveries early in the morning, so if it's in the warehouse they will get it the next morning BEFORE they even open. He also said that virtually everything is in the warehouse. If Messicks has a price they can get it, so it should be available.

Guess I will go tear down the pulley now and see if I can find a part number on it. I guess I should have assumed it was bad and just ordered it anyway.

Are the gaskets and the "O" ring (and seals) still available at the IH dealer? I have one to rebuild but the bearings seem fine, just need to "seal it up".

Thanks,
David

I have an old reference that crosses 351274R91 to Hyatt 1204TS. I don't know if that number is useful any more.

On the NAPA web site, go down the left side to "SEARCH NAPA CATALOG using PartsPRO SE". Click on that to get the screen that lets you look up interchange numbers to their parts.

I found an apparent interchange from the Hyatt 1204TS to an SKF NU204.

Larry be careful with the interchange. I tried to get one a couple years ago from my bearing house since I didn't have a CNH dealer near by and they always got the wrong one. The reason being is that this bearing doesn't use the inner race. It actually uses the roller bearings on the shaft not a race. They tried to supply me with about four different bearings but due to the odd nature that this bearing is begin used your best bet is to buy the original bearing from CNH.

Just for example I still have this SKF NU204 bearing in the box from when I gave up on mine and it won't fit unless I put the shaft in a lathe and mill it down. Which is something that I don't believe in when I know that the correct bearing is out there. This was the right angle pulley from my Mott fast hitch mower. Since I had another one around I just installed it and went on with mowing. Now I should try and fix it. I think that I will order that bearing and see if they have one or two.

Maybe we could have two rebuilds. I have the metal end caps that you have to remove somewhere, I will try and find them.

What's a theory called once it proven? Surely I have proven the 'mushroom theory' to be fact!

Thanks for all the wisdom.

I figured I would crack it open last night, when I tipped it and water ran out I thought I could be in trouble (the 'rear' seal was off). When I reached for the service manual (instead of the parts manual) I really knew something wasn't as easy as it looked. The good news is the two bearings on the 'Cub' end seem to be in good shape, but I won't know till I pop the freeze plug and pull the shaft out. You can't see the bearing till you do that, so film at 11.

Rebuilt my belt pulley attachment about two months ago with seals from C&G. I didn't see the O-Ring in the parts book until I tore the unit apart and saw the old one. (Ref No. 29, PN 254091R1) I contacted my local Fastenal warehouse and they were able to measure the old one and had 3 new ones (their smallest package). Its a Trade No. 232, 1/8" cross section, 2 3/4" I.D. X 3" O.D. I still have 2 extra if someone wants them for the Cub Fest project. Just PM me with your addressand I'll drop them in the mail. John

Thanks for the dimensions (always good to know) and for sending the O Rings! If they don't get here in time, they will surely go to good use at Cecil's Cubfest.
One way or another we will find a home for them.

Did you get it done yet Larry?

I want to go over my flail mower drive sometime over the winter to get it as quiet as possible.

Could the bearing without the race be replaced with a better one that would fit?

Actually I did sport my stylish AZ Cub cap in NB...... but we (I) never got around to it. After I got home the Lo Boy snow plow parts were staring me in the face (OK, I got tired of tripping over them) so I got a bit diverted.

I used the flail mower the other week and I do love that mower. I can give you tips on the cutter shaft bearings (replace them before you paint the mower is one good one).
