Coyote trouble.Coyotes are all over but they seem to be getting a bit too close for comfort. I have heard them yelping close by the past couple of weeks, this morning at 5am I let my 3 dogs out as I do every day. About 10 feet off the deck they froze and began to growl, when I opened the door they quickly retreated to the door, then the yelping began. The back house spotlight was on and I could make out 3 pairs of eyes not 50 yards from my house. By the time the 12 gauge was out they had retreated. Too close for comfort. Yesterday about 20 miles from here a 4 month old puppy was attacked and killed in broad daylight by a coyote. They sure seem to be over populated up here in the Northeast.

Re: Coyote trouble.Coyote Hunting Seasons in NY
You are no longer required to pelt seal a coyote or report a coyote harvest. New York State map showing coyote hunting season for different areas http://www.dec.ny.gov/images/wildlife_i ... hunt09.gif Bill

Re: Coyote trouble. They got about 15 of my neighbors sheep, cows and goats. They killed a few of the coyotes. On full moons they are everywhere, all you hear are yelping, howling, animals shrieking and gun shots. I was lucky when I had sheep, good fencing and secure buildings kept them out. Out in the fields they will walk by us a 150 feet away in broad daylight.
Re: Coyote trouble.Heck we have em here in the big city.
I saw one with a bad limp on my way to work one day in the YMCA field. Called DEM and went to see if I could see where it went. The woman at the business nearby said it was around and didn't bother anyone and was very indignant that I would have called the authorities on the animal (they would kill it, she said). I think the parents of the youngsters at the Y daycare would think differently about a coyote in the same field their children play in. Two days later I saw it walking (limping) along a busy road in the daylight. In Maine there is no season and you can shoot em at night. 1971 Cub (Rufus) 1950 Cub (Cathy) 1965 Lo Boy Fast Hitch (Nameless III) 1970 Cub 1000 Loader & Fast Hitch (Lee)
