I bought Millie Fleur chickens

Postby Bigwin » Thu Nov 19, 2009 5:41 pm

35 years ago my Dad bought me a millie fleur rooster. Then I bought 2 hens and raised millies for several years. I graduated high school and moved away for college and left the millies with my Dad.

After college the chickens were now my Dads, he loved those booted bantoms. In 2003 my Dad passed away and I moved the birds to my place. This spring something killed all 12 of my prized millies!

I just bought 2 roosters and 4 hens and they are PERFECT! They have the nicest feathers on their legs and feet (thats why they are called BOOTED)

Just thought I'd share my new purchase,
Kevin

How about some pics of your birds Kevin. I'd love to keep a small flock of chickens around here, but any landscaping and garden doesn't stand a chance. Been there, done that. Thru a bit of research several years ago I found that I would stand a pretty good chance with Guineas...so I started with 3 Pearls, and thru attrition I'm down to one. I do like birds around the yard...always something happening! :)

I miss the chickens, but the neighbors don't. Congrats on the new birds, I had some of those for a while. My girlfriends father dropped some off without telling me. I had only Rhode Island Reds and I'd look out the window and see a little bantam run by. Huh???? Then I finally figured it out that her dad had dropped them off as a gift.

Neat Chickens
I '"ll bet they are great Cluck's (Farm term for good setter and mothers)
We raise Black Cochins they are large good layers as well as meat chickens.
They are also great Cluck's
Good luck with them

They are great birds, The bad thing is they are so small hawks love em! they are very interesting to watch. I usually get about 30 chicks a month or so, depending on the weather etc. A hawk just got my Black Cochin hen! Which stinks because she just hatched 12 chicks, only 1 survived the attack........
