McCormic/Farmall runs in the Wohlt blood..

Postby ToddW » Tue Dec 01, 2009 8:38 pm

Pic taken in 1925 on my grandpa's family homestead. He was 8 at the time of this pic and is not in the pic, just his older brothers and a cousin. Russel, the youngest brother in the Wohlt clan, was only 5 when this pic is taken. He's the last living brother and still lives on the farm (he still has 2 M's on it but they have not run for over 10 years).

They farmed with horses, and this was their first tractor according to Russel. There has always been a McCormic / Farmall on the farm since this pic. They also had an A that was sold about 25 years ago.

I think this is a McCormic 10-20 Edgar Wohlt is driving. Pic was on the cover of Wisconsin Farmer this April

Thanks guys. It is a great family picture.
I get over to see Russel several times a year, but I did not see this pic on the cover of the magazine until I was there last weekend. The picture really floored me how far back that property has been in the family. The barn still looks to be in great shape now, much like in the pic back then.
August Wohlt (my great grand-father) bought the land and built the farm in the late 1800's.

I do really need to acquire at least one of those M's before they are gone. I'll deal with finding where to keep it later. Russel and his daughter's know I'm interested, but they say they have no idea why I need something that big like the M. When Russel saw my cub he said he'd trade one of the M's for it..I said no way!!

Is there any chance you could work out something for the whole farm in order to keep it in the family?

I know that you had mentioned something about living out in the country a while back, and maybe this would be the ticket!

I've buy a lotterey ticket every now and then. Winning Powerball would do it
Russel's 2 daughters are in their 60's, and know what the land will sell for to an interested developer. It's going to go in the 7 figures when it sells :( Good for them, but out of my budget
