Even the mechanics at the dealers won't work on the steering columns unless they positively have to. If you decide to delve into the column, remember the airbag, and DUCK when you set it off.

Or, just trade it in for a Chevy. Then you won't have those problems.

Checked with Jim today, and he said that is a common problem with the "multifunction" switch going bad. Cost about $51 from Ford, might be able to get one cheaper through Autozone, etc. As Matt said, airbags can be set off accidently, so disconnect battery before starting.
