This is my mower, not completely shure what model it is.
Image

I haven't used it yet as I have this to mow the lawn:
Image

On the 59" mower you can see it discharges to the right but the blades are sharpened to the left, meaning that it should turn to the left. The PO said it cut well.

Also the rear guards are removable. I'm hoping this set up will cut as it is to be my back up . I'd hope I can cut counter clockwise this way.

Russ, this looks to me to be the C-3 Danco mower. I say that since the blade spindles have two bolts to hold the blade. On every woods mower I have seen and read about there is just one bolt. EDIT, I also think this is a Danco from the caster wheels. The woods ones I have seen are a bit different, and Dad's look exactly like those. Mine have been replaced.

My Dad's and my Danco have no rear guards at all. I am thinking that this might have been something that went along with the leaf mulcher option, but I am not 100% sure. It does cut very well, and you can get new suction blades that help lift the grass up before it is cut. I knew how well Dad's always cut ( he bought his new in 1973 ) but I was surprised how well it cut on my lawn. I am hoping that this new L59 mower will do the same.

Do you have the mounting hardware for the mower? You will also need the hardware for the idler pulleys. Might want to check the bearings. Sometimes people were not as good with the grease gun as they should have been. Also, I think you would be best replacing those blades with new suction ones. This way they will be right hand discharge, and should cut better. However, all in all I think they are a great mower. Not to mention the fact that you get to mow with a CUB!

Good deal! I just didn't see any of that stuff in the pictures so I thought I should ask.

I agree on the C-3 opinion. It appears to have the mule drive attached at the top of the picture.

If you want change the direction rotion can you not "x"the drive belt. I bought a Cub from a guy that said he could not get the mower to turn the right direction. When I "X'dD the belt, it turned the right way.

Yes you can reverse the direction by doing this, but I have also read that this can put a great deal of stress on the belt. Which would make sense to me due to the speed at which that belt hast to travel. Now I have seen other situations where yes the belt was Xed, but in those situations the belt traveled much slower.
