IH-274

Postby dickcub50 » Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:40 am

Anyone own a IH 274 ? I'm looking for information on this model.
From what little info I've obtained it sounds as if it may be good
for a small to medium area.
What impelements are available for it.
Is it a clone or an IH ?

The IH 274 from what litle i know was to replace the 140 it was made in japan it's diesel and was designed for cultivating most of the farmers around here were getting bigger with more acreage in tobbacco and were using two and four row equipment and for whatever reason the 274 never caught on in NC.i have seen them go at auctions for less than $2,000.

They never caught on here either Jim. A feller down the road traded a 140 in on one and kept it a month and went back and traded it back for the 140 :D

It is one HOSS of a tractor. Will do anything a 140 will do and more. I grew up around a 274 and it's still with me. Not sure why they never caught on. Was one of the best late model offsets ever to have the IH badge.

Hey Song,

Why didn't you post that picture of you in 1985 sitting on this tractor?? :) Do you happen to still have the woods mower?

The mower didn't stay long at all. That Woods 59 was a horrible mower but that is another story.
