I am new to this forum but participate in several others. Have been noticing that about 50% of the selections I make transfer me to a page that says "The web address you entered is not available". This occurs on things like User Control Panel, forums, individual posts and links. Seems to be random. Some things I can load up and others give me that message. I was wondering if it was a problem with AOL, my computer, or the forum? Thanks! I enjoy what I can read.

Hey Dave - It's good to see you made it! On a rare occasion there may be a server issue but I suspect AOL is one of the causes of your problem.

Howdy Bigdog! Been poking all over the site and finding lots of good stuff. I guess AOL could be the issue but this is the only forum (of several) where I have issues. Problem is, it mostly happens on those things that are the most of interest. Up in the left corner of this page is "User Control Panel". I cannot access this no matter what I try. Suppose I could reboot and see if that helps. Hoping someone might come along who has had a similar problem and give me a setting to change. Tons of info here I can't read!
Other places I cannot reach:
The forum where you introduce yourself
The Loboy forum
The for sale ad for Loboy with accessories

I have ran PHPBB boards for years and currently run one now. AOL users have had more issues than any other ISP.

So maybe the other boards I use are not phpbb? Do your AOL users do anything to make their lives easier or is this just hopeless? Really stuck with AOL. Don't even want to get into the logistics of getting my client based switched over to a new e-mail. Should try to find another board of this type and see if it happens there, I guess. Another side effect of this problem: After I tell it to post this message I will not be able to get back to the forums. I need to close it down and then load it back up again.

Here's another board to try...http://antiquetractorsforum.com/

I'll try that board just because it looks interesting, thanks! Problem is, I believe solved, but I will need some time to test my solution. Years ago I used a software program from a company that was incompatible with AOL. The solution there is the same I tried here and it is working so far. For AOL users having problems with the board...
1) Log onto AOL
2) Minimize AOL and open Internet Explorer
3) Type in the address of the forum (farmallcub.com)
So far I have been able to access everything doing this and the forum behaves like any other. I will post back if I have more problems but supsect this may be all that is involved. Sometimes AOL just needs to take a backseat I guess. Now....back to all those places I couldn't go before!

Just wanted to let you know that if you do decide to switch ISPs, you don't have to switch your e-mail account away from AOL. I still use AOL as my email address even though I am on Charter Internet Service. It is free if you are not using their service to access the internet. All you have to do is request the "free version" and they will stop charging your account each month. Then, you can log on using another ISP (High speed or dial up) and use your favorite internet software to surf. You can either then use your AOL software for e-mail or access it via the web at http://www.aol.com
If you have any questions about this process, feel free to contact me via PM! Your way of solving the problem should work as well by using AOL only to get on the web and using IE to actually surf!

Thought I would add a note on this thread. Even though I have experienced a problem somewhat like this for several months I have not mentioned it before hoping I would see a cure mentioned somewhere here on the site.
The Cub Forum seems to usually work very good most of the time.
A few of the others seem to work most of the time.
However any time I use the Cub For Sale, Cub Vine, or anything else in that group after I open a thread I can never "GO BACK" I always get the same "The web address you entered is not available" page. If I go down and use the little go button at the bottom of the page instead of trying the "GO BACK" it always works fine.
This is the only site this happens on.
OH and it just happend on this thread... I am not on AOL.

Correction to my post of a few minutes ago.
The message I get is "Web page has expired" in case that makes a difference.

That is different. I think that may only happen when you are on a constructed page (like a search result), not sure about that. You web browser is probably configured to redisplay a cached page from your computer if you were recently looking at it. If you take longer than some specific amount of time before you page back, the page will not display and you get the "expired" message. The only way it will redisplay the page is by retrieving a new copy from the server. When you get that message, you can hit your "refresh" button to force a fresh copy.
