With all the rain in California everything is green....been along time since its been this lush....all the fruit tres are blooming so its time next week to get the tomato's in the ground....I cant wait....Sorry guys back East.....

Minnows are up in the creek and dogwoods are starting to bloom. Spring is here - sort of.

Garden will be late this spring, couple of weeks at least before I can put in the cool season crops. Temps are 15 degrees below normal and soil is still to wet - soggy. Even if we don't get any more moisture it will take a couple of weeks before the soil is dry enough to work. Soil surface temp is just above freezing.

Still have snow drifts 2 feet deep laying on top of 2 of our gardens and temps right at or below freezing.---NOT warming up much here,-- just enough to make slick mud and hard walking!---I look for normal spring like we had last year again this year.---nuttin' early planted! thanks; sonny

Rub it in Dakcub lol i'm with Sonny on this to much snow and i'm sure it will be a slick mess underneath it. The Veterans had a plant sale for the last 3 days here at the hospital lettuce plants in 3" pots 2 for 25cent and six packs of cilantro,basil and oregano for .50 to $1.00. I bought up a nice flat and hope to keep them viable for a month or so. Really makes me want to get my green house up and going. even though we can't plant yet we can get the ball rolling.

With all this rain, I am thinking about going into rice farming. Trade my cub for a water buffalo. On second thought, you have to feed a water buffalo even when he is not working. Oh well, it will dry up eventually.

Up here in Illinois the snow has melted and now it's supposed to rain all week. I sure hope we dont have a spring like last year!
Got a lot of seeds started and getting the greenhouse ready for production!

We still have snow drifts on our gardens and mud every where else on top of the frozen ground underneath!---We are a long ways out before even getting close to time to plant.---cant plant garden in mud either,--ground has to be in good working condition before planting.---last frost date here is around April 14, and last year it snowed after that and flat out froze off whatever was up.---no green grass here yet either,--still barren brown!
I look for this to be a normal spring (late cold and wet) again this year, since they run in cycles we may be entering the "normal cycle"--( 5 or 7 year). thanks; sonny

Temp in high 50s today, and for the next two days sunny and mid 50s. Snow is all gone, and I started plowing.Hope to finish
