a little of what I do...

Postby sp8cemunky » Wed Feb 23, 2005 9:40 pm

I hope this is appropriate...I wrote a poem for Carm and thought I would share it here. It's the best way to describe what kind of poetry I write :)
***********
untitled

His boots sink into
The succulent grass.
He pulls his shirt
Over his head.
Her curves, her undulations, beckon him.
The gentle summer hum of
Bees, crickets, roof thumping wasps.
Snatches of song
From robins, cardinals, jays
The castanet echo of the pileated
Woodpecker
His heart beat quickens
The golden sun on his back
Sends trickles of sweat
Downward

Drowsy hot days
Like these
Are when he yearns for her most
When he carves a little space in his day for her
Often, as the subtle shifts in light
Become long shadows

He bathes her gently
Droplets, little planets,
cling, glisten.
Even his atoms smile
As, finally, he straddles her.
She is a steady throbbing
Beneath him, purring.
He lets out the clutch
And they hunger
For the unturned soil
Yonder.

:D Wow :) :)

I love it. It is so descriptive, sensuous and to the point, yet leaves to the imagination. I am sure we can all relate to this. At least I hope everyone can. Very well put and very classy :!:

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I know it is personal but that's what poetry is all about. Sharing one innermost feelings and sentiments. This one was beautiful.

Julie do you have any more where this one came from?

P.s.: I tried to check your link http://www.poetryinbaltimore.com/ but it won't let me sign up. "Warning! The flood protection on this site has been activated and you are warned that if you carry on requesting pages you could be banned." come up.

so glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the heads up about the site error message. I'm checking in to it now with my site guru.

I thought the poem topic was something all the ladies here could relate to.

I'll try to post more in the future. I'm a little busy planning a benefit for a local organization called Book Thing. http://www.bookthing.org We're going to have a show featuring poetry and live music in a nearby club.

Thanks for the compliments, its always excellent when a poem resonates with someone else :D

Wow, that is beautiful, it made me cry.

My lovely wife said, "If that was really about a woman, I wouldn't have even read it."
