Cub 154 Won't Start
I was cutting high grass, the tractor stalled and now it won't start. Tried jumping it. The volt gauge shows that it is discharging when the key it turned on. Any ideas?

Does it restart after it cools down?

Does the starter/generator turn the engine over/crank the engine? If engine cranks - leaves ignition problem or fuel problem.
Engine not running - turning the ignition key on - amp meter will show a discharge.
Engine got oil? Neighbors 154 has a low oil pressure ignition disconnect switch on side of oil filter housing.
PTO safety switch and or clutch safety switch?
Bit more information needed to help diagnose the problem.

Also, something to watch. I have seen a few 154 lo-boys that the crank shaft pulley key sheared off. The starter generator spins like it is cranking the engine, and sometimes it is even turning the crank a little, but the pulley is spinning on the crank shaft. It is a pretty common problem, and not real hard to fix, other than you have to take the whole front end off of the tractor and move the radiator to the side, so you can take the crank shaft pulley off.

Re: Cub 154 Won't Start
If its not turning over and you checked the battery or even jumped it i would Pull off your PTO drive belt and see if it will crank then?
I just had the bearing go south in my PTO unit and it was hard to start so i removed the drive belt and it started. But then after running it the bearing in the pto seized more so it wouldn't start. Now its all apart and i found out the pto bearing caused it. Slowly everything is going south on my first int154. But i had four years of mowing with it since i purchased it. Now my pto and mower deck needs rebuilding then i'm out of the woods with my first int154.

I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be one of the wires going into the ignition tumbler.
