Could "Hercules" be a Demonstrator?

Dave, what is the serial number? Does it fall into the Demo range?

It was great to meet you at the Tug by the way. You rode with one of the best. I'm sure a lot of Cub stories were told during the ride.

Thanks...I enjoyed meeting you and all the other great folks as well. :{_}: ...and thanks for the disc.
It was a great opportunity to spend so much time with Albie...I probably should have recorded it all. :D

Serial number the best I can determine [somebody painted over it real good  ] is 104586.

I would say it is a Demo. Take a pic of every piece you find that is white for documentation.

So Dave, if it is a Demo, will you go back with Red or White?

Are you excited yet? :{_}: :{_}:

Well, if somebody wants a "white one" to restore, speak up now...otherwise it will probably be "Cub red" [what my daughter calls IH red]

That's a pleasant discovery Dave. 8) 8) Looks to be a nice tractor overall. Would turn out nice in either color I'm sure.

I would say its a Demo....... You can't be seriously considering painting it red? That would be a shame, in my opinion. Gotta go white. Maybe i should add it to my collection of white tractors.

Come and get him...and rescue him from the red paint...

Dave, I would keep it and paint it red again. That way you have a demo and after all, it was red when it left the dealer. Keep your photos as documented proof that you have a demo.

Do a carefully applied white paint job. After it is completely assembled, do a quickie layer of red, so bits of white can be seen on close inspection or anywhere the red gets chipped/worn.

Try a little wet sanding as per photo.
This is what realy convinced me to
it being a demonstrstor or not. Some
white showed up In other places as I checked and
photographed it for the history.

That would be the most "original" approach and the most unusual one to boot.

That would be really interesting. It would kind of be fun to, over the years, slowly watch the red paint peel and fade away to reveal the white. :D

Thanks for all the comments and ideas.
I bought "Hercules" to use...wasn't planning on a restoration.
I am humbled and in awe of those of you who have the skills and passion
to take these old Cubs and turn them into a beautiful tractor.

Demos are a special part of our Cub history and are prized,
and I can't give this one the attention others would.
It would be like using a classic car in a demolition derby. :(

All that said, Hercules is coming apart for the engine work.
The split will probably start tomorrow or Sunday...some prep is already done [see pic below].

If anyone is interested in him as a Demo restore project,
to paint him while you have him apart for the repairs [I'm assuming the ideal time]
let me know and I'll stop my progress.

Thanks...Dave7-22-10 (7)reduced.jpg
