Hydrostatic Oil Filter

What brand of oil filter should I use on the hydrostatic transmission in my Cadet 1250. The Cub Cadet filters seem a little pricey. Are they any better than say a Fram or other brand?

I just purchased a hydraulic oil filter for the hydrostat on a 125 Cub Cadet from my local auto parts store. Hastings brand. Next day delivery since it is not a stocked item.

Any way. Ask at your favorite auto parts store. The will be able to cross reference the filter.

Quality. More than likely the Cub Cadet filter is identical to one of the other name brand filters. Only difference - the printing on the side of the filter, the box and the price.

My Cub Cadet dealer sells both Cub Cadet and Fleet-Gard (sp), and The Fleet-Gard is less expensive. If you use another brand, make sure it is a filter for a hydraulic/hydrostatic system and not an oil filter that fits. They are different internally, and your hydrostatic system will not work properly with an oil filter.

I think the filter that is currently on the tractor is a Fram PH16 (I think). I'm not sure that is the correct filter for this.

The fram should work fine. I had a fram on my hydr. before I changed it to whatever brand it is now. never had an issue with it.

The last time I bought filters at the Rossville IH dealer they sold me a Fleetguard, they didn't stock the Cub Cadet filters.
