Rick, you're right. That front bracketry is identical. That's another lead.

Did you try contacting the guy who has the one on ebay? Maybe he knows the brand and such.

Charles sent me this pic of the same mower on an Allis B.

So I have a feeling that it is not a 3rd party/local shop fabrication but one that was marketed across a number of lines. I don't think it will fall into the classification of a contraption, but more like the category of an OEM Implement.

Going to a Woods or an IH Danco or other more common mower may make some sense... but scrapping the mower itself is kinda a shame. So much historical data on implements for tractors, specifically our Cubs has been lost and in order to be able to build some kind of knowledge base we need to identify as much as we can find. Given sufficient time, this will be identified and we will have another grain of information available for future generations.

I regret getting rid of the front trucks on my M-H#1. I didn't have a use for it so I sold it to help pay for the acquistion. Good idea.. but in hindsight keeping the front trucks made a lot more sense especially to document the equipment.

at first glance it looks like a bushhog . I am pretty sure. My second guess would be a sunmaster.Sunmaster comes to mind because of the idler pulley set up.

Doing a bit of research on the Continental Belton Mower. Found a bunch of stuff starting with this neat ad on YTMag form Ole Shovel.

Image
pic courtesy Ole Shovel

As with most implements, they could be used with a number of different makes/models simply by changing brackets etc. In the case of a Cub the direction would also have to be changed or simply twist the belt.

Keep getting this contact info for the succeeding company...

Contact Ag-Meier Industries LLC, Belton Division, (formerly Continental Belton) 1000 E. 6th Ave., Belton, TX 76513, 254/939-3731, 800/446-7319, http://www.ag-meier.net.

There appears to be one for sale complete with the Cub on top .. IH Cub Tractor with Belly Mower in Sioux City. Have emailed for pics.. hopefully he will reply.

Surprisingly I found a link to a thread in our archives on page 2 of the google - Continental Belton Belly Mower results.. Mowing With a Cub. Some interesting info there as well as a member or two who actually have a Continental Belton.

Lacal Equipment has blades for the C-B :!:

Wow! Thanks for all the investigation you guys have done. I have looked until my eyes felt like they were going to pop and didn't find half the stuff that you have found. Looking at your pictures Rudi it seem you are on the right track with the Continental Belton mower. I am going to go by the place where my tractor hung out for 10 years and do a more thorough search of the brush :offroad: and hopefully i can find that gearbox. Wish me luck!

Thanks again for all the input to this thread!

Charles:

You are welcome.. but I was intrigued and wanted to find out more. The accolades belong to my friend ole eagle eye Ron - aka Evilboweivel .. fastest eye in Ohiya  :D

Let us know what transpires.. I would also check the barn/sheds etc., for that gearbox and maybe anything else that might belong to that mower. Who knows maybe even that manual might be in the barn/shed. One can hope at least :)
