Hello Everyone

Postby salamonius » Fri Sep 17, 2010 9:01 am

I am a first time cub owner from southern Indiana. We recently purchased our cub from a man selling it down the road from us. Both rear tires were shot. The lower radiator housing was busted. We bought it for 500 dollars and the guy drove it off the trailer. In the process of repairing the lower housing I found the head was cracked as well....I have the head replaced and hopefully sometime soon will get her running....

Congrats :applause: on getting your very first Cub :D You will find that you may be hard pressed to limit it to just one Cub as the MCC addiction takes hold. Even with the few problems your seems to have, I am sure that all will work out nicely :!:

Looks like I am going to have to do a LOT more to this beast than I had originally thought. I got her running no smoke started without using the choke.....I thought great .....then I heard THE noise.....at first I thought it might be a valve or the oil pump had lost it's prime......as if i could get that lucky....she has 2 spun rod bearings and some nice grooves in the crank....as well as some wear on the piston skirts....I will be splitting her this weekend and sending the block and crank to the machine shop. I am curious though, i have rebuilt more engines than i care to remember...but the rod bearings that were in this cub were sticking up past the rod caps nearly a 1/16th of an inch.....I am new to the farmall world but to me that isn't normal...I am afraid someone had replaced the rod bearings with the wrong ones.....hope it didn't hurt her too much... :? And thanks you guys for the warm welcome.... :D
