Hi all,
just picked up a sickle mower attachemnt. Its been exposed to the elements for some time.
I have some of my own ideas for prepping it for paint, but wanted to see if I'm doing this right.
MY IDEA: clean and scrub with degreaser. possible pressure washer? after it dries Scotchbrite? Someone also suggested a gel that is a rust remover?...never used this.
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS ARE REQUESTED and APPRECIATED.
PS - CAN I PAINT THE SICKLE BAR ITSELF? SOMEONE TOLD ME THE BAR GETS HOT AND WILL DISCOLOR PAINT?. High-Heat engine paint?
Thanks! - J.R. in Va

No. Show only....BUT --- I would like to know that I could turn it on and make it work for show purposes. I'd like to make it 100% operational.

I use a 4 inch angle grinder with a cup brush for the big pieces and a wire wheel on my bench grinder for the small pieces. I wouldn't worry about the cutter bar getting too hot.
