radiator problem

Postby bjgravley » Sat Apr 09, 2005 8:14 pm

i was replacing all the bolts and screws on the sheetmetal , and when i ran the tap in i touched the radiator and i saw some water run down the fin, so i took the sheetmetal off and removed the bracket on the right side to make the weld repare when doing this i had to remove some base bolts holding the radiator down when i did this i saw a little leaking, when i put it all back and put water in it started leaking near the bottom right away before it had a chance to get to the weld repare at the top of the fin, when i took the bottom bolts out did i break a seal or something? and if so do i need to take the radiator off and replace the seal? what do you guys think, thanks for any info

There's a gasket on the bottom of the radiator. Probably needs a replacement............ They're fairly priced.

I bought some rubberized tape at the radiator shop that they use but before I used it I got a gasket at eBay for $6 + $2 shipping.
Then came Bronson

I just bought a new radiator gasket and a fan belt Thursday...........from a Cub Cadet dealer. The fan belt is in a Cub Cadet sleeve, but has the IH P/N, and the gasket was also listed by the IH P/N. There are quite a few things for Cubs and the numbered Cubs that are available through Cub Cadet if you have one of those dealers and don't happen to have a Case IH dealer near by. The gasket, P/N IH-351032-R2 was $5.21, the fan belt, P/N IH-251428-R1 was $12.23

radiator gasket

I never have used a cork gasket, only heavy paper. I just go to NAPA, get gasket material, and make my own. About a 15 minute job.
