OK, my nice painted hood got knocked over in the garage. Not once, but twice. It is now sporting a lovely new paint job with several nice scratches in the top of the hood. What is the best way to get them out? Re-sand, prime the scratches and re-paint?

If the scratches are down to the primer or bare metal, and the paint is enamel, sanding and repainting is the only way I know of, and it will probably be better if you repaint the whole hood rather than try to blend in a spot repair, unless you are a professional painter which I assume you are not or you wouldn't be asking your question
