Horseradish harvestToday was horseradish harvest day here!---got some gooood hot stuff this year.---anybody else make their own?---nice and crisp to work with this year too, really tender, not woody.---I have tons of plants/roots growing ---some friends came over last fall and got a start of mine.---they had some variety that wasnt hot, so they tried ours and decided that was what they were wanting! Good time now to transplant it too! thanks; sonny
Re: Horseradish harvestYup. Have two small patches. We only havest when we need to restock. Usually only make up a quart at a time.
I have an excuse. CRS.
Re: Horseradish harvestThe small re-stock amount is how we do it too!----stays good in the fridg. --they say 6 mos.--we have had it longer, but the small batches are easier to dig and make! thanks; sonny
Re: Horseradish harvestYep. I do my own. Usually end up with a couple of quarts. I give what I don't need away to friends and neighbors.

Re: Horseradish harvestI love the stuff...My grandmother used to grow & make it on the farm where I now live. She always planted it at the end of the garden, and once when I mowed for her, noticed these "weeds" at the end. Had a funny smell when I cut them down.. Well, they grew back twice as good, and eventually I was able to sit again...
Never did that again...hehe
