154 mower deck belt.

Postby mason79 » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:48 am

Hello everyone. Im new here and just recently purchased a cub loboy 154 for mowing and hopefully snow plowing next winter.from the research i have done I beleive it has a 3260 mowing deck. The deck only has one belt, i think there was 2 different 3260 decks and one only had one belt. My question is does anyone know how to find a diagram of how this belt goes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Josh

There are 3160 mower decks and 3260 mower decks. On my 3260 mower deck it takes the B100 5/8" belt(deck) and the mule drive belt is the B158 5/8" belt.

If you go to "parts tree" and look in the IH section they list the 154 cub and the farmall cubs and accessories too. They have pics on how the belts go.

The belt on the 3260 deck goes straight across the rear and they wrap around the spindles on both right and left sides then the left side goes around the center spindle and goes behind the idler pulley on the tentioner to the right spindle.

The mule drive belt goes around the rear PTO pulley and go straight down together into the 90 degree pulleys on the mule drive and up front to the center main drive pulley on the 3260 mower deck. One pulley on the mule drive is slotted for adjustment while the other is spring loaded for a belt tentioner.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

i searched around. maybe its not a 3260. the deck only has one belt. belt starts at pto and wraps under tractor to the deck. from there im not sure exactly where to go with it. it was on when i purchased the tractor but came off i cant remember how it went to each pulley. 3 pulleys on deck. no tensioner on deck. im new to all this so i hope you can be patient with me, im sure i will have plenty of questions in the future. lol.

Mason, you're correct that there are 2 different 3260 decks. I can't remember the designations but I'm thinking the later was 3260, or something like that. I believe the single belt version was probably the earlier version. I'd like to help you with belt routing, but I'd have to have it in front of me to do it. I'm sure that there would be a diagram in the owners manual, though. Check the manual server here and see if Rudi has that manual on line.

I have no idea how the belt runs but it may be the same as the woods 59lb mower. If so, standing at the back facing the front, the belt comes off the PTO pulley on the right and twists to go under the muledrive pully on the right. It has to twist 1/4 turn and wraps around the right side and front of the bottom groove on the center mower pulley. Continues to the left blade pulley and wraps around. Comes out the back of the left pulley going towards the right side of the mower, rides, but does not wrap around, in the middle groove of the center pulley and continues to the right side pulley. Wraps around the right side mower pulley and goes to the front of the top groove on the center pulley. Wraps around 1/4 of the top groove and then heads back to the left mule drive pulley. To ride in the pulley groove on the left mule drive, the belt has to have a 3/4 of a turn twist. Around the mule drive pulley and back to the left side of the PTO pulley. The belt has to twist 1/4 turn between the mower and the right mule drive and 3/4 turn between the mower and the left mule drive. Do it the other way around and the belt will keep falling off the pulleys.
The belt also has to be very tight due to the twists.
