Keep an eye out if your not in a hurry, the show up all the time and some go for reasonable prices, I got my AC on ebay for $15 last year.

Good luck,
David

Whilst searching for an AC Delco or a Stewart Warner 757W for Jim, I came across this one:

Image

It is an Albert Guggenheim Tachometer (handheld) made in Switzerland and really interesting. It had a bid of $9.99US on it when I started watching it hoping to be able to snag it at the last minute. The bid I made certainly would have taken it at $20.99US had I put it in at the last minute. But since the auction ended at 0100 this morning roughly, it was past me bedtime so I had to put in my highest and hope for the best. I lost it by $00.01 :big cry: My highest bid ws $24.99US. :big give up: That is the way the :eBay: cookie crumbles. Sure would have made a very nice addition to my tool boxes - either in the Pole Barn or in my Cabinet shop -- and probably would have been in the cabinet shop cause it is too nice to get oil on

Just posted to alert others that there are many very fine old aka antique handheld tachometers on :eBay: and they are well worth the search :!:

That is a cool old tool, love 'em!

Just make sure it reads the RPM's in the direction you are wanting to know (A/C and SW read both directions) :big afro:

David:

CCW readability is unknown and was my only concern, however if it did not read CCW then it definitely would have ended up in my cabinet shop for use on my lathes. Either way.. a cool tool that I had hoped would be in me tool box.

So . . . without sounding dumb, just what is the pto rpm supposed to be?

I don't have a tach/dwell meter but I do have a Starrett 104 that I can check the PTO and then adjust the engine.

Check the operator's manual for your Cub.

Standard Cubs: 450 - 500 low rpm and 1800 high idle
I have an excuse. CRS.
