Mott Mower

I have a Mott T-38 pull type mower. Motor on it is in good shape, I purchased new knives for it. When I put on the new knives I was wanting to restore it. Does anyone know th paint colors (formula) for the Mott? Mine of coarse is yellow with the orange wheels. Also, is there someone out there that reproduces the decals for it?

Any help is appreciated.

I used School Bus Yellow on my front mounted mounted Mott like most of the Mott's I seen. I got my decals from http://www.urschelsccconnection.netfirms.com/

I found my brochure of the T-38 and I don't see the warning decal on it. I haven't seen many of the pull behinds.

Thank you! I have spoke to Scott this evening and we are good. Geezer, do you have a better picture of the "warning decal"? I cannot read the print and I have tried to enlarge and it goes blury.

TST made a real nice IH/Danco sticker from my original. As long as he has a good photo he can make one.

I painted mine IH Federal Yellow... with a brush. Probably not exactly original, but close enough and it's good paint.

I have the mower diss-assembled, some small parts blasted and primed. I also have the tires off. My question is the tires are the hard molded rubber and one of them is bent. Does anyone know how I can re-shape this bent or warped hard tire?

Try laving it sit with some really heavy weight. if it straightens some try shimming up the low sides to over bend it. If you get it close put it n the wheel and press it with heavy weight.

Here is some progress on restoration. All bearings seem to be good. one problem still is the bent tire, still working on.

another question for those that may have a similiar model. look the picture and see how the tongue seems to have a bend. I cant believe that is supposed to be like mine is, but before I throw heat to it, I thought I would ask others.

I used a pan of boiling water to help me "stretch" some plastic wheel bearing covers on a JD garden tractor I was restoring.

I think it might work for your bent tire. Just be careful to not splash that hot water on you. Get it hot enough to be pliable, then lay it flat with some weight on it.

Just my thought but if both are bent the same I would think that that is they way they are supposed to be. Also looking at the picture on the brochure there's a spacer between the ams at the hole, that bend should give a flat spot for the pipe spacer end to sit against and the bolt to pull down square instead of on a taper.

DONT straighten the drawbar arms!

As already suggested by Scrivet, they are factory bent to accomodate the spacer and bolt.

My Mott T38, serial number 7420, looks like the one pictured except for more decals (8) and a swivel end on the drawbar.

It's an awsome piece of machinery, especially since I mounted a 11hp Honda on it. A bolt-on fit and even accomodates the bolts for the idled pulley assy. A good upgrade if your Briggs is tired and cranky.
