Look what I bought today!
Just picked it up today. Bought it from my boss. He took excellent care of it. 2 sets of spare blades, new belts, oil change and a front plow blade. I just waxed it and will take it to the farm today! Can't wait. Luckily I got to try it out on some grass here at the airport.

Actually Ned, just a logbook recording maintenance and hours. No 8130's were required, the belts, oil filters and blades are all TSO'd parts. There was a service bulletin listing, but no AD's yet.
Bill, no repaint yet...paint is still new and shiny. Now the old MTD however may be on the list for an update!
Rudi, hope it comes sooner for you...its fun getting new stuff!

Carm:
Hopefully this will work. I haven't had the tractor delivered yet, they will not land at the dealer until most likely Tuesday. With luck, Em and I will be in Ottawa awaiting the results of my Mom's triple by-pass surgery.
However, this is what we are getting:
It is a JD-L111 Hydrostatic with a Kohler engine and 42" deck. It is at the upper limits of what we can manage, and is the best quality we have been able to find. Also, because I have to watch out for exposure to the sun, Em has ordered this for me:
I know it is Green, and it pains me greatly, it is still the best Riding Mower we have seen. Em says absolutely not to a 20 or 30 year old IH CC (some day I will have one to restore though), in fact, she really doesn't even want to consider a used mower. She is concerned as I would end up trying to service it myself and I am not strong enough yet, nor will be for this year anyways.
Soooo, I guess I will have to just get used to Green,
So, I am going down to the dealer this afternoon and sign on for one to be delivered as soon as we get back from Ottawa.
Getting a good deal too! Beats the heck out of Home Depot - the dealer is significantly cheaper on the accessories and is identical for the mower. And he is going to give us 10% off of the accessories, 10% off the extended warranty, a FULL tank of gas and FREE delivery and setup I like that a lot

Rudi, I have had great service from my green mower. I get good dealer service on supplies etc. I probably should think about one of those shade canopies as the thin spot that is spreading across the top of my head provides little protection from the sun.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Scott:
Nice rake, but it ain't gonna be behind my mower.... Never be able to manuever around my grape vines hauling that thing. Em, I am sure would never go for it either.
As for the canopy, one salesman at the dealership is telling us not to waste our money -- will pop off at the first tree branch strike..... so we are rethinking that one. Will let you know what we decide. A very wide brimmed straw hat may be what is required in the end....

Well Rudi, as I said the other night. I WON'T be without my Deere, it may have a few years on it now and the paint has some scratches, but it is a sweet as they come and runs like a deer.
I bought my 318 a few years ago with 700 hours on it and now has over 1500 hours on it and I have no doubts it wil make another 1500 hours with no problems. It is built like a tank and I have put it through hell and back and has given very little trouble if any. I have been 100 percent happy with it.
It has a 18 horse Onan twin cylinder engine, hydrastat with front hydraulic hook-ups, power steering and dual rear brake controls and 50 inch deck.
Would I buy another Deere? In a heartbeat !!!!!!!
