1953 Farmall Super A With Rear Mounted Loader

Postby Popeye » Thu Apr 21, 2011 7:53 am

Just wanted to share some pics of my Finished Project I've been working on for the past 4 months on & off. This is my 1953 Farmall Super A, I took a old Bucket from a Termite Excavator and adapted / fabricated it to work as a Rear Mounted Scoop & Dump Bucket Loader. The Tractor Rear Hydraulics raise & Lower the Bucket But the Actual Dumping of the bucket & return the Bucket to the upright position is Totally my own Manual Design. . There are still a few small tweaks to get it perfect but I' am very happy with the results. I may be wrong but I believe this is a One of a Kind, as I've never seen anyone else attempt to do this. The Bucket works Great and has allready been a Big Time & Back saver around here.

FYI I posted a 4 part series on YouTube showing from start to finish just how it was done if you care to watch.

Looks good Popeye

Looks like you have the finals tied together too. Have you tired it out yet :?:

I have a fast hitch carry all scoop that came with my 130. The dump trip wasn't done very well so you have to set in on the ground get off the tractor trip it then reset it. I was hauling crushed stone with it and found I could only lift it if it was less than 3/4 full.

Hey Cowboy, That a Beautiful looking machine you got there, love to see some close up shots of that Bucket set up.
I plan on using mine mainly for Firewood, hay, Mulch and other relatively light weight hauling of stuff around the place here. I will be using it when redoing my driveway but I am aware of the possible 'Tip factor" and so I will be sure not to overload her with too much stone. Thanks for sharing those pics, she's a real beauty.

Thanks Popeye

Its a good tractor and I use it all the time at the farm. Its pretty much my go to tractor. Since those pictures were taken I put 14.9x24 tires on on the back and it really goes through the mud now and with all the sidewall on it its like I have 4" suspension on it. If it stoppes raining and sleeting here I'll get out back and take some pictures of the carry all.

Billy,

That looks like a very cool Lightweight Bucket. the Design Looks a awful lot like those "Johnny Buckets' they came out with for the small GT's , in fact , I bet that's probably what they Copied (Stole) the idea from. Seeing videos of the "johnny Bucket" they made for the Farmall Cub on Youtube is actually where i got the idea from to mount my bucket as a Scoop & Dump. Thanks for sharing the Pics. I Really appreciate it, I never would of known about them if you hadn't.

Thanks, DanO'

Thanks DanO

I don't know who made it or when. It came with the 130 we bought in 2006 in Virginia. I haven't used it much as I've had a end loader around most of the time. But once I get the tractors that belong on the farm back UP there I am sure I will use it more.

Mike, Regarding the Front Mounted Grader Blade; I totally restored that Blade from a Rusted piece of junk and had a heck of a time doing it. I made a few YouTube Videos of my progress as it went along if you care to watch.
Here is a link to the final one with it all Painted up, Mounted & working.
I have a PDF File of the Grader Blade if you, or anyone else needs one just contact me.
