Unusual harrow

Scrivet showed me this harrow he bought at an auction Sunday. I have never seen one quite like it. If you pull it in one direction the spikes stand straight up and down. Pulling it in the opposite direction allows the spike to lean several degrees to the rear. If it is turned upside down it can be rolled into a bundle about 14 to 18 inches across. The green apint makes me think Oliver, or maybe John Deere, but Scrivet wondered about Brillion, since they also used green.

Until last year, I had a 4 section exactly like that.---they were some offbeat maker and were called "flex-harrow"----supposed to follow the ground contour ----NOT worth a d--m for leveling a field!----most harrows just take off your fingers when you try to handle them,---this thing would take off your whole arm!!! thanks; sonny

I think I am understanding why it shows very little use.......... and why there was only one section, since the rest are in a police evidence lockup somewhere.

It does roll up neatly.


I think it's neat in that it only has a few parts. The brackets are two pieces bolted together with a flat steel tie strap between tubes. The interlocking tabs on the brackets stop the tubes and spikes from rotating. The only marking I can find are the numbers 854L W and 854R W on the brackets and E1 on the hooks. In this picture pulling from the left will allow the tubes and spikes to rotate back a little, pulling from the right will have them at 90 degrees.
