stuck in the mud

I usually plant five rows of corn at a time. Then two weeks later another five. The first five rows had a rough start. 30% got washed out. Too wet to replant. Got the second five in between rain storms. Now ten days later the first rows are ready to be side dressed. But it's to muddy to plant the next five. So, the Cub sits there with the planter still on and the corn is getting bigger every day rain or shine. Please Mother Nature just give me three days with no rain.

Poor germination on the first patch. Can't get the second patch in. Temps are 15 to 20 degrees below normal. Rain, followed by rainy weather! Ed

Got the 444 stuck today, mowing the rye cover crop, in anticipation of plowing. Rye was 5 to 6 feet tall. Obviously too wet, for plowing. Ed

Glad you got some of the Rye down, maybe the sun can dry it all out a little better now. Wonderful weekend here so far.

Looks dry enough to plow, finally! Got the 444 unstuck, today. I have noticed that cubs swim better than heavier tractors. Ed

Everything is wet here. Rivers are at bank full, some out of their banks. Garden has been mud for quite some time. Temps have been above normal to below normal. Last two days, high in the lower 60's and low temps in the upper 40's

First planting of sweet corn about 4 weeks ago. Didn't germinate. 2nd planting about 10 days later in different area - about 50% germinated. Replanted the first planting about 15 days ago. Not looking good.

When it warms up again and dries out some - will fill in between the growing plants.

Had some of the area cubbers over, for a plow day, today. Scotlem,.Jimdawg, Greg49, Wfmdfm (Wallie), Spaceghost (Bob) and Buzzardwing (Larry). Had 3 cubs with plows mounted. Got all the plowing finished, without sinking in the mud! Weather co-operated. Ed

Larry G and Jeff Silvey are expected to come by tomorrow. We are going to disk 2 acres, plant one in pumpkins and one in Ambrosia!

We really dodged a big storm yesterday. It was coming through Illinois and broke up just this side of the state line.
