Painting RubberThinking about putting a couple rear ag tires half way into the ground, for playground equipment. Can i paint them? What would i use? A stain?
Re: Painting RubberPower wash them John, maybe a rubberized paint, but definitely something that will not 1. rub off and 2. aggravate the skin.02

Re: Painting Rubber
Stain is used to absorb into wood. Not likely to happen with rubber. Too bad though, a nice light oak tire would look great in a playground. I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.

Ditto. Stuff won't peel or come off. Did two tires in fall of 2009; still look good. Stanton

Re: Painting RubberJohn, what color do you plan to paint them? A good paint store can tell you what is best to use.

Re: Painting RubberVarious colors. I did a google search, after i posted this, duh, should of went there first. Just used to asking the "boys" or shall we shall experts, their opinion first. The link i found said use an oil based paint/primer on cleaned tires. as the oil base will flex with the tire. then it said you could use any latex paint you wanted. So thats looks like what i will do. Find an oil based primer, clean them all good with acetone, prime em, and then paint em, probably go ahead and use an oil based top coat, red, white and blue is what i as thinking, since there will be twelve.
Re: Painting RubberJohn I would not paint them if kids are using them
