Hi all, I'm a newbie to the site. Just purchased a74 154 with a loader on it.The loader is run from a pump connected to the PTO. I have been browsing the site and am quite concerned about the PTO horror stories. Everthing is working fine for me now and the loader is the only hydraulics I use. I'm wondering if my PTO packs it in, can I disconnect the factory hydraulics from the on engine pump and use that pump to run my loader? Does anyone know the GPM of the engine mounted pump?

Thanks in advance,

I cannot answer your direct question, however, the PTO horror stories are likely not going to be the case with your setup. The mower deck is a huge drain on the engine and huge load on the PTO when it is engaged. The hydraulic pump you are running is likely not going to task the PTO the way a mower deck would, and is not going to be engaged and disengaged, bogged down, etc., nearly as often as a mower deck would, therefore you should get orders of magnitude more life out of your PTO than someone using a mower deck. Personally, if it is working OK I would not mess with it.

Suggest you peruse the links below. There is not a lot on the Numbered Series Cubs, but there is enough to help .. especially for the 154. I hope it helps you.
