154 won't moveI was mowing along when it suddenly just rolled to a stop. Seems to run fine but something is disconnected. The clutch seems to work ok but I can shift it in or out of gear without engaging the clutch with no grinding? I can push it by hand while it's in gear or not. The clutch disk spins and seems to work ok. The pressure plate spins with the clutch engaged but the rear wheels are still free wheeling? Any suggestions as to where to look next?

Seeing as the 154 shares the same transmission as the Cub.. I would suspect that one or both of the shifter forks are loose/mis-aligned/broke. I would check there first. Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship

Re: 154 won't moveThe pressure plate assembly is either pinned or bolted to the transmission input shaft. I'm not that versed on 154s, but I'd check there first.
Re: 154 won't moveFrom what I've read from number series owners the driveshaft has, as Jim said, a pin or bolt through it and shearing this pin is not uncommon. I can't say for sure but it was probably originally a roll pin that ultimately got replaced by a bolt which would likely shear easier than the pin.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem. My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that! http://www.cubtug.com
Re: 154 won't moveThanks for the help guys. It seems the shifting lever just popped out of the shift forks. Nothing seems damaged? I've ordered a new gasket for the cover. Does this happen often? Shouldn't something be broken in the process?
The pressure plate is fastened with a bolt. I'll take it out tomorrow and see if it's worn or the hole oblonged. I'm going to change the hydraulic oil filter (screw on) as well. Do i have to bleed the line after installing the filter? Paul Allard

Although I have no real experience with a 154, the tranny is the same as a Cub. So I think probably what happened is the bolt just worked loose. I have to assume that in Ellie's case cause it just happened out of the blue.. bolt worked loose and the shifter popped out of the forks - similar to your situation. Not sure about the other stuff..
