Anyways, this year seems different. We have lost 2 trees already and this one seemed to be on it's last legs as well. Surprisingly it flowered this spring and it is now apparent that the bees did their job
We will be watching these closely.

Thar be Peaches Here !Well I don't much get on over on this forum. Maybe that should change. Em does a fair amount of gardening with her fruit trees and other interests. One of the things we have tried to cultivate over the years are Peach Trees. They are very much on the absolute northern range of their habitat so to speak so it is pretty much a huge challenge to get them to produce. We had one good year about 8 years ago I guess - had 3 or 4 peaches actually ripen but before we could get them, the ravens did ... oh that was not a happy day

Re: Thar be Peaches Here !Hopefully you will be able to enjoy a few peaches this year. You might be able to drape some bird netting over the tree to keep the birds away. Around here, the squirrels also like the fruit trees. My pear tree was loaded down this year. Pears got to be about the size of golf balls, and in 2 days, they were gone . Squirrels. Looks like I may have to thin the population out a little.
Re: Thar be Peaches Here !Good luck with your peaches. Hope they make it. I have two trees, had a load of peaches about the size of quarter. Then we had a week of 90 degree heat in May and slowly but surely they all shriveled up and fell off. Nuts!..Greg
Re: Thar be Peaches Here !Good luck with your peaches. They sure are tasty...when they do make.
"I ain't believing this!"
Re: Thar be Peaches Here !I canned quite a few last year, the only fruit trees I have. Good luck with yours Rudi!
Re: Thar be Peaches Here !If we can keep the bugs and the birds out of the tree, we might get lucky.

Re: Thar be Peaches Here !The big green jap beatles destroyed our only peach tree that we had here, so no fruit this year! thanks; sonny

Re: Thar be Peaches Here !Finally getting some time to upload pics. Been raining since yesterday so no splitting going on .. taking a "rain day" off
![]() ![]() ![]() They are not huge peaches but finally after all these years we have had a crop. And my were they good or what. We just bought at the supermarket a 3qt basket of Free Stone peaches -- not cheap -- grown in Ontario -- nice province, was born there.. however these peaches were not even edible. Dry, chalky, heavy - not juicy and hairy like a peach should be. So our little bumper crop was many times better. Gonna have to try growing a few more peach trees now that we know we can do it. Re: Thar be Peaches Here !"REAL" peaches, and store bought peaches. are a totally different experience. You need to wear a bib, when eating a tree ripened peach! Compare with store bought tomatoes, and garden fresh ones. Ed

That be true I like it when they are juicy.. just like garden tomaters.. or cukes, radish etc... nothing like home grown. Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship
